Hi guys! It has been a little while since I have filled you in on my pregnancy, so I wanted to do a second trimester bumpdate! You can see my first trimester post here. I am currently 21 weeks and will be 22 weeks on Sunday! Time is seriously flying by and over the last couple weeks my belly has totally popped, which has been so exciting to see (and dress)! I have also started to feel the baby move here and there which is a feeling like no other! Overall I am feeling great and I feel so blessed that my pregnancy has been easy up to this point!
On Tuesday last week we had our anatomy scan, which was so surreal! During the scan they looked at every body part to make sure that the baby is healthy and developing the way that he/she should. I got a little emotional because we were able to see everything! The profile of the face and little fingers and toes really got me 🙂 At the end of our appointment the dr. gave us some information on birthing classes so we are planning to sign up for those in the next month or so just to feel a bit more prepared for the delivery. For all you mamas out there, let me know if you have any other class suggestions because I have no idea what I should be doing! I also want to start reading some baby books (or even listen to podcasts) so any recommendations are much appreciated!
One question that I get asked a lot is about my eating and workout routine. I am not going to lie, I have had a hard time staying motivated to eat well and work out the last few weeks. I have been really tired and the couch and takeout has been a lot more appealing than going to a class and cooking dinner. On Saturday I forced myself to go to a spin class and although it was a lot harder than normal, it felt really good! This week I am challenging myself to cook a healthy dinner each night and workout a few times so wish me luck!
Another question that I have been getting is what the sex of the baby is. We aren’t necessarily keeping it a secret, but we are going to take some cute photos in the next few weeks and I will be doing a full post on the gender, nursery design, etc. so stay tuned! Speaking of the nursery, I have started ordering some of the decor and I am so excited to share it with you! A few of the things haven’t arrived yet so once they get here I will give you a sneak peak 😉 One aspect of the nursery that I am really excited about is a re-design of the baby’s closet. Currently, it is not very functional for baby clothes, accessories, and toys so I am partnering with The Container Store to design the space and it will be installed in the next few weeks! I will be doing a full post on the before and after and I will share all the details with you!
Lastly, I wanted to share some of my favorite maternity clothes/brands because this is by far my most popular request! I am still able to wear most of my normal clothes, but many of my jeans are starting to feel tight and uncomfortable. With Spring right around the corner I also wanted to order a few versatile pieces that I can mix and match and be super comfortable in. So here you go!
ASOS– They have the best maternity section and amazing prices! I didn’t want to spend a fortune on jeans I am only going to wear for a few months and I found both of these stylish pairs for under $50 each!
I also ordered a couple basic tee’s that I can wear with everything:
Here are a few dresses that I am loving:
Pink Blush– I love this website because they have adorable maternity and non-maternity clothes at very reasonable prices! Here are a few of my favorites!
BAE The Label– To say that I am obsessed with this site is an understatement! They have the most stylish maternity clothes and the quality is amazing. I love that many of their pieces can be mixed and matched. I am not able to link the items that I got, but check out their website and I will be styling some outfits soon!
Legoe Heritage– Another really trendy maternity site that I am in love with! Again, I can’t link the products, but check out their site! I want everything!
Forever 21– These items below are non-maternity, but I feel like they would be great for a growing bump! I just ordered all of these pieces and went up to a size M. I love how affordable everything is!
Target- I have found some really great basics at Target:
I also got this non-maternity denim top to wear over my maternity dresses. I love the length and how it covers the bum:
H&M- They have great maternity basics! I have also heard great things about their nursing bras and tanks for after the baby is born!
I hope you all enjoyed this post and I would love to hear from any other expecting mamas! Let me know if you have any questions or pregnancy topics that you would like me to cover! Now I just need to work on my registry, finish the nursery, schedule a hospital tour, research pediatricians, look into babymoon locations, the list goes on…..wish me luck!
