I have been working on a fun project that I am so excited to finally share with you! I partnered with The Container Store to design baby W’s nursery closet and I am so pleased with how everything turned out! Here is a before photo of what I was working with:
The closet was pretty much a big, empty space with no storage. I wanted to design a space where there was a place for everything! Once I decided on The Container Store, the process was so fun and easy! I went into my local San Diego location and met with Julie, one of their Elfa Closet Systems experts, who sat down with me listened to my needs. I brought the measurements of the closet with me so that everything would fit perfectly and Julie was able to design my space on the spot! At first she put together a rough draft and then we made some tweaks to the design until I was completely happy with it. A couple weeks later a representative from The Container Store came to my house to complete the installation, which only took a couple hours!
When Julie and I were designing the space, I told her I wanted a lot of shelving where I could put storage baskets. I plan to store extra diapers and wipes, toys, and other little odds and ends in these canvas bins, which are also from The Container Store. I like how I can insert a label so I know what each bin has in it. I also told Julie that I wanted some sort of drawers where I could put folded clothes, blankets, swaddles, etc. We went with this mesh option, which is great because you can easily see everything! Lastly, I wanted a lot of hanging space for the rest of his clothes and I ended up organizing everything by age so I can easily see what to grab. Julie even went above and beyond and added a little valet, which is the bar that the jean jacket is hanging on. It is a great way to outfit plan! Now I need one of these in my own closet!
When we were designing the drawers, Julie showed me this amazing shoe storage space that I had to have! His shoes are super tiny right now, but as he gets older he will still be able to use this space. Again, I need one of these in my own closet!
Pricing for this type of project is around $1500. If you are interested in the installation, it is a few hundred extra, but you can definitely install it yourself. The ease of having someone come in and do the installation and cleanup for me was totally worth a little extra! The Container Store is currently having their Closet Essentials Sale through May 19th where hundreds of closet storage and organization products are 25% off!
Overall, I had an amazing experience with The Container Store and I could not recommend them enough! Their prices are fair, they have an amazing staff of people, and the installation process could not have been more flawless! I am definitely thinking about doing my own closet next!
