Good Morning everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! I am excited about today’s post because I am answering some frequently asked questions about my hair! I get so many questions about what my stylist does for my color and styling so I thought I would do a Q&A with her! For those of you that live in San Diego, I go to Laura Looney at Brick and Mason salon downtown. You can look her up on Instagram @lauralooneyhair to see pictures of her clients! She definitely has a great eye for blondes! Let me know if you have any additional questions and I would be happy to get the info for you!
Question: What should I ask my stylist for?
Answer: A a full head of custom baby lights. Make the hair line super blonde, root shadow, and tone it icy.
Question: Can you explain more about the root shadow?
Answer: My favorite go-to root shadow is 8.12 for my icy clients. It’s a cooler tone and blends beautifully. I never leave my root shadows on longer than 6-8 minutes on my super blonde clients. It’s something your stylist needs to watch as some hair will pick up the color fast.
Question: What is Jen’s natural hair like?
Answer: Jen has a natural 8 base. Her hair is easy to lift so if you have darker hair, expect this look to take a few sessions. Remember, the slower the better. Healthy hair is pretty hair. You don’t want your stylist to damage your hair to get the look you want right away.
Question: How do I keep my hair and color healthy?
Answer: I ALWAYS use a bond rebuilder for all my blonde applications. It’s typically a extra charge but it will save your hair in the end. The bond rebuilder gets deep inside your cuticle and helps rebuild your hair from inside out. I’m obsessed with it.
Question: How should I care for my hair at home?
Answer: Take home care is SO IMPORTANT. Your stylist can do everything he/she needs to at the salon, but if you aren’t doing your part at home your hair can get very dry. Leave in conditioners are a must as are hair masks. Always use a heat protectant and make sure your shampoo and conditioner are sulfate free and paraben free. You spend a ton on your hair so make sure you are taking care of it at home. These products also help preserve your hair color. Everyone now a days hates brass, this will
help a lot.
Question: How do you style Jen’s hair?
Answer: For her blow dry I always use a smoothing and texture product. She has fine hair so anything we can do to get some grit on her hair to hold the style is a must. I use a 1 1/4 inch curling iron. It’s my favorite size to get those fun loose beach waves. Make sure to let them set and cool off. Spray with hair spray and break them apart effortlessly. Then put a fun texture spray or a soft wave spray.
