I didn’t think I would get emotional wiring this post, but it’s hard to believe that Wyatt is 6 months old! I feel like he is growing up way too fast and if I could stop time I would. You know when you are younger and everyone tells you that time flies by and you don’t really believe them? Well, I can totally relate now. I feel like I was just bringing Wyatt home from the hospital yesterday and trying to figure out this whole new mom thing. Each month has brought new experiences and challenges, but I have to say that the last couple of months have been my favorite so far. Don’t get me wrong, there is something so special about the newborn stage, but seeing Wyatt’s personality come through and hearing his little laugh has been absolutely amazing and heartwarming. I have also loved seeing his eyes light up when he sees something new or tries something for the first time. I could go on and on, but I just feel so lucky to be his mama. Here is a little update on what’s been happening over here. Everything I have linked is from buybuyBABY, which is our favorite place to shop for all things baby!
WYATT’S DAILY SCHEDULE//
7:00- wake up & bottle #1 (6 oz)
play (I usually put him in this activity jumper while I do a few things around the house)
8:00- put Wyatt in his high chair (we love this one that I linked above) and feed him his first solid meal of the day, usually some sort of fruit for breakfast
8:30- nap #1
10:30- wake up & bottle #2 (6 oz)
play or go for a walk around the neighborhood (on Friday’s we have music class)
11:00- I’ll see if he wants a few bites of solid food, typically avocado or banana
11:30- nap #2
1:30- wake up & bottle #3 (6 oz)
play
2:30– nap #3
4:30- wake up & bottle #4 (6 oz)
play
5:30– dinner (I usually puree some sort of veggies such as green beans or squash)
6:00- bath time (Wyatt LOVES bath time so I try and make it fun and let him hang out in there for a while, splash around and play with some bath toys. We are still using this bath seat and love it)
6:30- bottle #5 (6 oz)
6:45– read a couple books and bed time. He goes down awake with his pacifier and puts himself to sleep.
** I want to note that not all of Wyatt’s naps are a full 2 hours, although I would love them to be. Some naps are an hour or hour and a half and some are the full 2 hours. We will probably take out one of the naps soon. I need to discuss that with Sleep Shop OC first to make sure we have a plan in place.**
DEVELOPMENT//
We had Wyatt’s 6 month checkup last week and he is currently in the 80th percentile for weight and height! Over the past two months he has started sitting up on his own, rolling over, scooting towards objects, and has been very curious about everything! He also started making lots of talking noises and every morning he babbles to himself in his crib until it’s time for him to get up. He also laughs and smiles at everything and it’s been so fun to see the world through his eyes. When we were in Cabo his first two teeth came through and he has been wanting to put everything in his mouth!
EATING//
We introduced Wyatt to solid food at the end of his 5th month and there hasn’t been a food yet that he has turned down! He has always been a good eater and I am trying to expose him to a variety of fruits and veggies so that he can get used to different flavors. Mangos, prunes, and avocado are definitely his favorites though! Wyatt still gets 5 6oz bottles a day and then we feed him pureed solids 2-3 times a day. We are using formula for his bottles and the babybrezza has been a lifesaver! It’s pretty much a Keurig for babies and it dispenses the perfect amount of formula at breast temperature in a matter of seconds. We also love this baby bullet for making homemade baby food. I try to make most of his food myself, but we also love these Plum Organics packets for on the go. I recently started keeping these crackers and puffs in my diaper bag, which also help a lot with teething and keeping him distracted! I am linking our favorite high chair, accessories, and favorite foods below!

TEETHING//
I thought teething would be a lot worse than it’s been so far. Don’t get me wrong, there have been a couple rough days, but overall Wyatt hasn’t seemed to be in too much pain. When he has seemed uncomfortable I have given him some infant Tylenol, which was recommended by his pediatrician. The items linked below have worked great for teething and he loves chewing on them all day long.
SLEEPING//
I have talked about this before, but we have worked with Sleep Shop OC from the very beginning to get Wyatt on a consistent sleeping schedule. He has been sleeping 12 hours a night since 12 weeks which has been a lifesaver for us! I do not do well on minimal sleep haha. As of the last couple weeks, Wyatt has learned to find his pacifier and reinsert it himself if it falls out. Now that he is starting to roll over we do not swaddle him anymore, but we use this transition sleep sack and love it. He sleeps in his crib in the sleep sack for every nap and throughout the night and we have used this sound machine from the very beginning and still love it!
PLAYING//
Wyatt has become so much better about using his hands and grasping objects. He is very interested in all of his toys and can entertain himself for a while. This activity jumper is by far his favorite and I tend to put him in it while I am doing dishes or chores around the house. I know it’s an eye sore, but you have to pick your battles haha. He also still loves this play mat, and he can now reach for the hanging objects and play with them. I also linked a few other favorite toys below. He pretty much loves anything that lights up or plays music.
TRAVEL//
I received several questions about traveling with Wyatt when we went to Napa a few months back and recently to Cabo. Here are a few tips that I have for the flight/airport:
- Bring the carseat and stroller into the airport and check them at the gate as you board. They will be ready for you when you land. We bought this very affordable stroller cover and this carseat cover that has wheels.
- Take advantage of pre-boarding. Airlines always let families with young children board first.
- On the flight, feed on the way up and on the way down to prevent their ears from hurting.
- Make it comfortable so they can sleep on the flight. Some babies like the carrier, but I have found that Wyatt likes to be snuggled up on my lap in a blanket.
- If they don’t want to sleep, have toys to entertain them. I just found out about these suction cup toys that I wish I had for our trip. You can put them on the back of the tray table and they can play with them while sitting on your lap.
Here are a few items that I can not live without for any trip:
- This travel bassinet is amazing! It folds up so it is easy for travel and is pretty spacious. Wyatt loves the hanging toys!
- We brought this travel bottle brush/drying rack and soap to clean his bottles while we were there.
- This travel formula dispenser is great for travel and can easily fit in your diaper bag.
Here are a few items that I highly recommend for a warm weather vacation:
- Wyatt absolutely loved this pool float while we were in Cabo. He was able to hang with us in the pool and splash around. It also has a sun shade.
- This waterproof hat. It’s not the most stylish but it was great for covering him from the sun and could get wet.
- These swim diapers were great!
I hope these tips were helpful! If you have any questions about anything please do not hesitate to reach out!
